DSA Rookie's Baseball Camp

Is your child new to baseball or softball? Has he or she never played before? Started recently and notice he/she is behind? Or is coordination and motor skills lacking in the young athlete?

When a coach or a parent is faced with an athlete in one of these positions, it is crucial how they handle it. The young athlete's first impression can either set them up for success or make the sport more difficult as they get older or worst case turn them away from the game. We want to do our best to make sure any young player enjoys their experience playing baseball. By understanding rules, and building proper footwork and rhythm habits at an early age, the athlete will be calmer in the moment during games and will therefore catch/throw/hit/run better and in turn have more fun! At our camp, it is all about these basics and the movements/thoughts behind them. We will start slow and break down the little things, challenge them with some drills and exercises, and of course always finish with something fast-paced, fun or competitive.

Monday July 24th - Friday July 28th
11:30 AM - 1:30 PM
$275
Ages 5-12

Topics we will cover include:
  • Basic rules of the game (if they are already familiar with the game, they can always deepen their understanding by discussing)
  • Hitting
  • Throwing
  • Catching Balls On the Ground
  • Catching Balls in the Air
  • Baserunning Fundamentals

Other Information:
  • The camp is two hours long each day. Athletes are encouraged to eat before and bring their own water or hydration fuel. We will have quick drink breaks but will not stop for food.
  • Athletic wear is required however, baseball uniform is not required.
  • No cleats. Please clean dirt off of bags and shoes before coming into our BIG LEAGUE facility.
  • Parents, you will be asked to stay in the lounge. We separate the athletes from parents so that they can go through some of those scary moments alone and learn to be okay in them. Plus, it is impossible for a young athlete to learn and master a movement with 100 eyes glaring at them. We want them to be relaxed, learn and be excited to show you everything afterwards!
  • It is mainly an indoor camp but some aspects may be outside.
  • Coach Lance will be programming the camp and will help run it with a few of our younger coaches.
  • There is no refund for any missed days.

"I quit coaching at the professional level because I recognized my passion was in helping young athletes get off to a good start by teaching habits and rhythm. I enjoy analyzing routines, mechanics and mindset to help a polished athlete get better, but there is nothing like seeing a kid fall in love with the crack of a bat or the pop of a glove." -Coach Lance
